BOWLSLINK- UPDATE

Bowls Victoria is pleased to announce that BowlsLink is now available for Club use.   For the first time in our sports’ history, we have a custom-built database and competition management platform that will suit our needs.

Shortly (estimating Wednesday 11 September), your Club Administrator will receive login details for BowlsLink and able to proceed with entering your member information in readiness for the new season. The most crucial information that needs to be addressed immediately is registering your members as financial.

FINANCIAL STATUS – Making Members Financial
All participants in an organised event at Club level and above must be a registered financial member of a Bowls Victoria Member Club and recorded in BowlsLink. A registered financial member is any club membership that includes playing rights of any kind.  Clubs must ensure that the process of making members financial is completed before the Pennant season starts.

PLAYING RIGHTS – Organised Events
An organised Club event includes all regular competitions regardless of the value of the prize or prestige associated with the event. For the avoidance of doubt, this includes social competitions such as Thursday morning triples where the prize might be a frozen chook or a small amount of money. It does not include barefoot bowls, Christmas parties, or corporate events, which serve as an avenue to attract new members and a vital income stream for clubs.

Other information that Club Administrators need to be mindful of include:

SUBSCRIPTION TYPES
The subscription types from the old system were not consistent with the custom-built system and therefore new member groups need to be setup.

EMAILS NOTIFICATIONS
When adding a certification or a clearance, the Club Administrator and/or the Members in question will receive an approval request via email. These emails are official, but need to be ignored until further notice. Please ensure you communicate this with your Club members to avoid any confusion. This feature is under review.

MEMBER IDENTIFICATION NUMBER
All members are automatically assigned a National Member ID number. This is now the official member identifier for all club members.

You can find a user manual here to help guide you through the administration functions.

New systems take time to master and we ask that those responsible for BowlsLink take care when entering information. If you are unsure about any aspect concerning data entry, please contact Bowls Victoria in the first instance.

Please be mindful that BowlsLink is evolving and, as with any new system, some minor amendments and adjustments may be needed. Bowls Victoria will continue to work in collaboration with Bowls Australia to test the functionality of BowlsLink to ensure your experience is a pleasant one.

Should you have any questions concerning BowlsLink or if you require any assistance, please contact Bowls Victoria via email to bowlsvic@bowlsvic.org.au

To reiterate, we anticipate there will be some teething issues, but we’re sure you’ll agree this is an exciting time for the sport and we look forward to further developments and improvements to the system in the near future.
