  Central Goulburn Murray Bowls Region Bulletin

 

Central Goulburn Murray (CGM) Bowls Region President (Alan Rogers) and Fellow Board and Delegate Members forward this bulletin to the three Divisions (Central, Goulburn Valley & Murray) providing an update what is happening and the commencement to 2020/2021 Season.

COVD-19 VIRUS:

Broadcasts from Bowls Australia, Bowls Victoria, Central Goulburn Murray (CGM) Bowls Region and the Three Divisions have all forward correspondence in relationship to the postponement and cancellation of bowling programs and events due to the impact of the Coronavirus Crisis.

President (Alan Rogers), Secretary Joy O’Donnell) and Fellow Board Members wish all Bowlers across the Region, healthy, safe, and enjoyable 2020/21 bowling season during these incredibly challenging times being experienced by us all.

Each of the three Divisions are asked to please ensure their Bowling Community are updated with these important broadcasts and others as they come to hand.

Unfortunately, both the 2019/20 Weekend (Saturday) and Midweek Regional Pennant Finals were postponed due to the impact of the COVID-19 Virus.

It is suggested that the 60 & Over Singles & Pairs: Men’s & Women’s Singles: Pairs: Triples: Fours: Mixed Pairs and the Champion of Champions Women’s & Men’s Singles & Pairs all be held over the three days as allocated to assist Divisions & Clubs if able to complete their State Events prior to the Christmas break, understanding the current situation being experienced by all with this COVID-19 Virus.

 

MEETING – CANCELLATION:

In reference to the CGM Bowls Region Annual General (AGM) Meeting was postponed until further notice due to the COVID-19 Virus Restrictions.

The CGM Bowls Region are hoping this meeting can be held once the Government has reduced restrictions, so we are all able to come together and meet.

The CGM Board is now seeking nominations from across the three Divisions for new Bowling Members to step forward to fill the vacant positions and to lead the Region into the new phrase been introduced by Bowls Victoria.

 

The following Positions are vacant for the 2020/2021 Season: –

BOARD:

  • President
  • Secretary
  • Treasurer
  • Division Board and Delegate Representatives.

 

The CGM Bowls Region is hoping and seeking Bowlers across the three Divisions to step forward and offer their services to be a Member of the CGM Bowls Region Board to

ensure the direction taken is of benefit for the future of the Region’s Bowling Community for the 2020/21 Season.

 

Update on Proposed New Regional Board for the 2021/22 Bowling Season.

 

As everyone is aware Bowls Victoria has advised all Regions and Divisions across the State that effective from July 2021, details of the Boundary Reviews, finalisation of Bowls Divisions and the formation of a new Nine Member Regional Board will come into play.

 

This Bowls Victoria proposal will affect the Central Goulburn Murray (CGM) Bowls Region with the dissolution of the three Divisions – Central: Goulburn Valley & Murray and the current CGM Bowls Region Board.

The proposed boundary review will have an impact on the southern end of the Goulburn Valley Bowls Division with Bowls Victoria advising that Central Division Clubs will be split as follows: –

  • Seymour: Seymour VRI: Eildon: Alexandra & Yea to join the southern end of the Goulburn Valley.
  • Broadford & Kilmore to join Central Highlands.
  • Wallan to join Northern Gateway.

 

Bowls Victoria has forwarded proposed timeline for the implementation of the new Region, with Regions/Divisions to establish a working party with Region/Divisions nominating potential representatives.

 

CGM Bowls Region President (Alan Rogers) is calling for Expression of Interest from the three current Divisions for Representatives to form the Working Party, who will develop the strategy for moving forward with the implementation of the new Region. With Expression of Interest closing on Friday 2nd October 2020.

 

Around January the Working Party will advertise the nomination process for the new nine Member Region Board to ensure clarity for Clubs and Bowling Members.

 

March -Open Expression of Interest process for Committee positions with Open nomination process for Board positions.

 

April – Meet with proposed (new) Board members to discus Portfolios

Review nominations for committee/strategy to fill places if required.

 

May – Conduct Division AGM’s where Divisions are dissolved.

Confirm nominations for Region Board 2021-22.

 

June – Region AGM – commence under the new Constitution.

Confirm new Board and Committees.

IMPORTANT:

 

Each Division is now asked to please seek interest from your Member Clubs and their Bowlers for the appointment of Representatives to form the Working Party to move forward with the implementation of the new Region.

 

The support from the three Divisions will be of most importance in the establishment of the 2020/21 CGM Board and Working Party, ensuring that there is fair representation from each of the three Divisions to both.

 

Divisions are asked to contact CGM Bowls Region Secretary (Joy O’Donnell) if any further details are required OR forward details of interest for any of the vacant positions.
